break down (inseparable) = stop working
My car broke down last week.
Mi auto se rompió la semana pasada.
bring up (separable) = mention
Maria brought the topic up during the meeting.
María mencionó el tema durante la reunión.
come across (inseparable) = find
Maria came across her pen while she was cleaning her room.
María encontró su lapicera mientras limpiaba su habitación.
fill in (separable) = add information to a form
Please fill in the blanks.
Por favor llene los casilleros.
let down (separable) = disappoint
Please don't let me down.
Por favor no me decepciones.
look up (separable) = find in a reference book
I don't know what this word means. I will look it up.

make up (separable) = invent
I don't believe you. You made it up.
No te creo. Lo inventaste.
put on (separable) = begin to wear
It's cold, I'll put my jacket on.
Hace frío, me pondré la chaqueta.
run out of (inseparable) = use everything
We ran out of gas!
Nos quedamos sin combustible!
take off (separable) = stop wearing
It's hot, I'll take my jacket off.
Hace calor, me quitaré la chaqueta.
