THE STORY BEHIND THE WORDS
Robot
It comes from the Czech word "robota", which means work. In 1920, the Czech playwright Karel Capek used it as part of the title of one of his plays: R.U.R. Rossum's Universal Robots. This play was performed in English in London in 1923. Since then, the word was introduced into the English language with the meaning we know.
Proviene de la palabra checa "robota", que significa trabajo. En 1920, el dramaturgo checo Karel Capek la usó en el título de una de sus obras: R.U.R. Rossum's Universal Robots. Esta obra fue presentada en inglés en Londres en 1923. Desde ese momento, la palabra fue introducida en el lenguaje inglés con el significado actual.
