Graffiti
(Sent by Alfonsina Bárbara, an advanced student from Concepción del Uruguay, Argentina)

There are a lot of people in favor of graffiti, who think that it is art, and people against, who think that it is a form of vandalism.

To begin with, people say that graffiti can liven up the ugly part of cities, for example in undergrounds, where there is not much light, or in a narrow street. In addition to this they find graffiti colourful, humorous and vibrant. On the other hand, most directors of galleries think that some graffiti art is better than some public art, because it actually fits into the surrounding.

However, maybe it is most people who are against graffiti. In general they find it offensive, intimidating, and what is worst, dangerous. Another point is that people say that it creates a sense of anarchy and chaos, and in the underground, passengers feel as if the whole rail is out of control.

To sum up, in my opinion, it is very nice to have a lot of graffiti in a city, like a decoration. I don't agree with people who think that it is a form of vandalism, for me it is a form of expression.
