The night the lights went out

I remember precisely the night of the blackout. I was sitting on my kitchen table, drinking some tea, and then, all of the sudden, everything around me became black.
At first, my eyes could not see a thing. But as time passed by, they got accustomed to it and starting I started to see besides my nose.
I got up and walked towards the window. I looked out and I saw the whole city under a dark veil.
It seemed that the whole universe was turned off except for the stars. The moon was nowhere to be
found, and so, only a couple of stars illuminated a little of the streets. It was the most beautiful thing I had ever seen.
